Colombo, Sri Lanka – 25 November 2025:
A decade of determination, friendship and charitable action was celebrated on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, as Ride for Ceylon officially announced its landmark 10th Anniversary Ride in support of the historic Manipay Green Memorial Hospital.
The press conference, held at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo, brought together representatives of Ride for Ceylon, sponsors, riders, supporters and members of the media to mark an important milestone in the journey of one of Sri Lanka’s most distinctive charity cycling initiatives.
The 10th Anniversary Ride is scheduled to take place from 11 to 14 March 2026, covering more than 450 kilometres from Colombo to Manipay, Jaffna. The four-day journey will once again bring together cyclists from Sri Lanka and around the world, united by a shared commitment to raising funds and awareness for healthcare and community development in Northern Sri Lanka.
Ten Years of Riding with a Purpose
What began in 2017 with just six cyclists has grown into an international cycling and fundraising movement. Over the years, Ride for Ceylon has welcomed participants from countries including the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, France, the United States and Sri Lanka.
The ride has become much more than a physical challenge. Each year, cyclists travel through some of Sri Lanka’s most scenic landscapes while helping raise funds for the continuing development and operation of Manipay Green Memorial Hospital and related charitable initiatives.
The journey from Colombo to Manipay carries a significance beyond its distance. It connects communities across Sri Lanka and brings together people from different backgrounds and countries around a common purpose: using cycling to support healthcare and create positive social impact.
Voices of Support
Speaking at the press conference, Anandan Arnold, Trustee of Friends of Manipay Hospital, highlighted the deeper meaning behind the initiative.
“Turning wheels, changing lives, that’s what Ride for Ceylon is all about.”
He described the decade-long journey as more than a physical challenge, emphasising its contribution to healthcare, community empowerment and solidarity.
The 10th Anniversary Ride also received support from Amanda Ishadi, Mrs Sri Lanka and runner-up to Mrs World in Las Vegas, who serves as an ambassador for the event.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the milestone ride, she highlighted the positive energy generated by Ride for Ceylon and confirmed her intention to join the riders in March 2026. The press conference also recognised the continued commitment of long-standing supporters and riders, including individuals who have progressed from joining the ride as first-time cyclists to becoming regular participants in the annual journey.
Unveiling the 10th Anniversary Ride
A key moment of the press conference was the unveiling of the official 2026 Ride for Ceylon T-shirt, together with the introduction of the event’s main sponsors.
The milestone event will begin with the 10th Annual Gala and Opening Ceremony on 10 March 2026 at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo, followed by the four-day cycling journey from Colombo to Manipay from 11 to 14 March.
The ride is expected to bring together cyclists from multiple countries for a shared journey across Sri Lanka.
Looking Ahead
The 10th Anniversary Ride represents a significant chapter in the Ride for Ceylon story.
From six riders in 2017 to an international community of cyclists, the initiative has grown through the dedication of riders, volunteers, sponsors, donors and supporters who have continued to believe in its purpose.
The road ahead is not simply about reaching Manipay. It is about continuing to support healthcare, strengthening communities and keeping alive the spirit of compassion that inspired the first ride.
In March 2026, riders from around the world will once again turn their wheels northwards, carrying with them a decade of memories, friendships and achievements, and a renewed commitment to the cause.
Ride for Ceylon continues to ride with heart, ride with purpose, and ride for a healthier and more empowered community.
