FAQ Ride for Ceylon

Who can participate in Ride for Ceylon?

Anyone aged 18 or above with a reasonable level of fitness and a passion for making a difference is welcome to join.

Do I need to be an experienced cyclist?

Not necessarily! While the ride is physically demanding, many participants are first-time long-distance riders. Training beforehand is strongly encouraged.

What is the distance and duration of the ride?

The ride spans approximately 450 km over three days, from Colombo to Jaffna, with overnight stops in Puttalam , Anurathapura and Mannar.

What does my registration fee cover?

It typically includes accommodation, meals, support vehicles, medical assistance, and a Ride for Ceylon jersey. Travel to/from Sri Lanka is not included.

What is the fundraising target?

Riders are encouraged to raise £500 to support the restoration of Manipay Green Memorial Hospital. Additionally, Riders can also raise more funds for their preferred good causes too

How are the funds raised?

All fundraising shall be via “Just Giving page”. This gets remitted to the charity’s bank account. Charity then distributes to the Green Memorials Hospital.

How are the funds used?

Funds go toward healthcare infrastructure, medical equipment, and community development projects of Green Memorial Hospital, Jaffna. Charity’s service delivery at the hospital is by The Institute of Medical Sciences, a non-profitable entity registered in Sri Lanka.

Can we allocate funds to other good causes?

Other good causes that riders may identify and recommend shall be only for duly registered institutions is Sri Lanka with non-profit aims and objectives.

Is the ride safe?

Yes. The route is carefully planned with police escorts, support vehicles, and medical staff on standby throughout the journey.

Can I volunteer instead of riding?

Absolutely! We welcome volunteers to assist with logistics, media, rider support, and more. Spaces for volunteers gets filled up fast, therefore we encourage early registration.

Who can be Corporate sponsorship and what happens to such sponsorships monies?

We gratefully accept corporate sponsors . They are kind of sponsorship goes towards meeting part of the logistics and operational costs such as support lorries mechanics ambulance police etc

Does any of our fundraising goes towards ride costs ?

All riders have to pay the minimum participation amountof $500 to cover their hotel accommodation and meals general rate costs are met from corporate sponsorships therefore 100% of your fundraising will go to GMH and good courses

Would you publish the ride accounts?

Absolutely yes; we shall publish the ride Inflow and Out flow statement , details of costs, sponsorship monies received, participants cost contribution, the total amount of donations and the causes they have been allocated to .

How do I register?

Click the link on Justgiving page and add your name , with a minimum donation of $100. You can confirm double confirm your participation by 30 /06/ 2025 , at that time you need to add $400.
